Brompton Tour

As part of our membership to New London Architecture we were given the opportunity to take a tour of the new home of Brompton in Greenford, West London.

Brompton folding bicycles are one are one of London's most iconic inventions, established in 1975 and they play a key role in encouraging active travel across the city.

Our tour began with a brief history of the company, followed by a tour of the brazing department where the unique Brompton frame is constructed. This followed with a view of the machining of the bike’s four hinge plates prior to seeing the auto-brazing of these to their respective tube sections. We then moved through to the new in-house paint plant where the frame sections are electrostatically powder-coated, before ending up at the bike assembly lines, with a sneak peak of the new electric bike assembly line.
